Florida viewers of the “Real Housewives of New York City” might not be surprised to hear that Ramona Singer and her husband are splitting. The public announcement came only a few days after an accusation of domestic violence that Singer alleged against her husband.
A reputable newspaper announced that police responded to the couple’s home in the Hamptons on Jan. 24. They were called to the scene to break up a heated argument between Singer and her husband. Singer alleged that her husband had choked her, but no charges were officially pressed.
The couple has been married for 27 years and have a daughter together. Singer’s husband is 60 years old and has been accused in the media of cheating for the last few months. He is now reportedly dating a 27-year-old woman, with whom he has been with for approximately a year. Singer is 56 years old and has been spotted with a young man recently. The spouses have not yet officially filed for divorce.
If a person has been the victim of domestic violence, he or she may contact a family law attorney to learn about strategies about how to safely exit the marriage. The lawyer may advise the domestic violence victim on how to safeguard assets and how to pursue an order or protection, which may be a permanent protective order or a temporary restraining order that stands until the divorce is finalized. This information may affect a custody dispute if the parent is concerned that the child may also be subject to abuse.
